Mukta Barve (pronounced [mʊkt̪aː bərʋeː]; born 17 May 1979; Marathi: About this sound pronunciation ) is an Indian television, film and theatre actress and a producer. One of the most popular Marathi celebrities, she has established a career in Marathi films. She is a recipient of six Maharashtra State Film Awards one for Best Debut and other five for Best Actress in different plays and films.

In 1999, she made her debut to Marathi television with the show Ghadlay Bighadlay. She made her debut to Marathi theatre with Aamhala Vegle Vhayache (2001), a Marathi play. In 2002, she debuted into Marathi films with Chakwa . Her work was appreciated in the films Thang (2006), Maati Maay (2007), Sawar Re (2007), Saas Bahu Aur Sensex (2008), Sumbaran (2009) and Ek Daav Dhobi Pachhad (2009). The 2009 film, Jogwa became a turning point in her career, giving her back to back hit films: Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai (2010), Aaghaat (2009), Badam Rani Gulam Chor (2012), Lagna Pahave Karun (2013), Mangalashtak Once More (2013), Double Seat (2015) and Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai 2 (2015). The shows Agnihotra (2009-2010) and Eka Lagnachi Dusri Goshta (2012) are an important part of her television career. In her theatre career, Final Draft (2005), Dehbhaan (2005), Kabaddi Kabaddi (2008) and Chhapa Kata (2013) are some of her famous plays. In 2015, she became a part of three successful films which include Highway, Double Seat and Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai 2. In 2016, she appeared in two Marathi films YZ and Ganvesh.

Barve also owns a production house named Rasika Productions under which she has produced the plays: Chhapa Kata, Lovebirds (2015) and Indira (2015), a theatre based poetry programme, Rang Nava in which she presents some poetries of her own and some of others. Currently, she is acting and producing a play named CodeMantra (2016) under the banner of Rasika Productions

Career

Mouni Roy started her career in 2007 with the Ekta Kapoor drama Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi playing the role of Krishnatulsi opposite Pulkit Samrat. She then participated and won the first season of Zara Nachke Dikha along with Karishma Tanna and Jennifer Winget. Mouni then appeared as Shivani in the series Kasturi.

In 2009, Roy participated in Pati Patni Aur Woh along with Gaurav Chopra then after in 2010, she was seen playing the role of Roop in Do Saheliyaan. Mouni made fame after playing the role as Sati in Life OK’s mythological series Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev from 2011 to 2014. During that time she played the lead as Meera opposite Aditya Redij in Life OK’s Junoon – Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq in 2013. In 2014, Mouni participated in the dance reality show on Colors Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in seventh season along with Punit Pathak. She survived for full 14 weeks and finished off as a finalist.

In 2015, Mouni returned to television with Ekta Kapoor’s supernatural series Naagin playing the role of Shivanya opposite Arjun Bijlani and Adaa Khan. She became one of the players of Arjun’s team Mumbai Tigers in Box Cricket League. She also hosted the dance show So You Think You Can Dance along with Rithvik Dhanjani on &TV. Monisha Unni (Malayalam: മോനിഷ; 24 January 1971 – 5 December 1992) was an Indian film actress.

Monisha was only 16 years old when she won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her debut film, Nakhakshathangal (1986). This made her the youngest recipient of the National Film Award for Best Actress. Along with Sharada, Shobhana and Meera Jasmine, Monisha Unni is one of four Malayalam actresses who has won the National Film Award for Best Actress.

She died in a car accident near Cherthala, Alappuzha at the age of 21. In her short career spanning 6 – 7 years, Monisha collaborated with renowned directors such as MT Vasudevan Nair, Hariharan, Priyadarshan, Ajayan, Kamal and Sibi Malayil.

Early life

Monisha Unni was born at Panniyankara, Kozhikode in 1971 to Narayanan Unni and Sreedevi Unni. Narayanan Unni hailed from Shornur and was in the leather business in Bangalore, where Monisha Unni was brought up. Sreedevi Unni is a classical dancer trained in Mohiniattam. Monisha Unni started to learn dance during her childhood and did her first stage performance when she was nine years old. She won the Kaushika Award in the Karnataka state-level Mohiniyattam competition in 1985. She completed her schooling at St. Charles High School, Bangalore and Bishop Cotton Girls School, Bangalore. She completed her graduation in psychology at Mount Carmel College, Bangalore She has an elder brother Sajith Unni

Monisha Unni was working on the Malayalam film Cheppadividya when she died in a car accident. On 5 December 1992, car carrying Monisha and her mother Sreedevi Unni met with an accident near Cherthala in Alappuzha. While her mother escaped with fractures and bruises, Monisha succumbed to injuries Her mother Sreedevi Unni has acted in films such as Kadavu, Oru Cheru Punchiri, Saphalam, Mayookham, Bus Conductor, Nivedyam, Neelathamara, Elsamma Enna Aankutty, Pattinte Palazhi, Katha Thudarunnu, Ordinary, Diamond Necklace, Mumbai Police, Sringara Velan,Namboothiri Yuvavu @ 43, To Noora with Love, 7th Day, Buddy, Silence, Cousins, Nirnayakam, She Taxi etc. and recently did a television serial named Sarayu which was telecasted on Surya TV.She has acted in some advertisements and an album named Ammakkai also.She has attended many talk shows and judged some dance competitions also.

Career

Noted Malayalam novelist MT Vasudevan Nair, who is also a screenwriter and film director, was a family friend of the Unnis. M.T was responsible for Monisha Unni’s entry into films. She made her debut in Nakhakshathangal (1986), which was written by MT Vasudevan Nair and directed by Hariharan. The film portrayed a love triangle involving three teenagers. Monisha’s portrayal of Gowri, the film’s female protagonist, won her the National Film Award for Best Actress in 1987.

Monisha Unni is also known for her roles in Malayalam films such as Perumthachan (1990), Kadavu (1991) and Kamaladalam (1992). She also acted in the Tamil films such as Pookkal Vidum Thoodhu (a remake of Nakhashathangal), Moondraavadhu Kann, Unna Nenachen Pattu Padichen, and Dravidan, and in the Kannada film Chiranjeevi Sudhakara (1988). She has also acted in a Telugu movie Lawyer Bharathi Devi (1987).

Mithra was born as Dalma to Malayali Syrian Christian parents Kurian and Baby, on 15 May 1989, at Perumbavoor, Kerala. She has a younger brother, Dani Kurian. She has completed her bachelors in Business Administration (B.B.A). She is a distant relative of Nayantara. In January 2015, she married her long-time beau William Francis at a ceremony in Kochi.

Mita Vashisht (born 2 November 1967)is an Indian television, film and theatre actress.

Early life

Mita Vashisht was allegedly born on 2 November 1967 in Pune, Maharashtra, India to Rajeshwar Dutt Vasisht, a retired Colonel in the Indian Army and Meenakshi Mehta Vasisht, a teacher and musician.

A post-graduate in literature from Punjab University, Chandigarh and a graduate from the National School of DramaDelhi) in 1987, Vashisht is also visiting faculty to some of the premier design, film and theatre institutes of India – the NIFT (Delhi), FTII (Pune), NSD (Delhi) and the NID (Ahmedabad). She has also conducted theatre workshops in the UK (London, Birmingham, Leicester) and in Damascus. She teaches students of fashion design, film direction and acting, using theatre techniques.

Career

Vashisht has worked in off-beat cinema as well as in commercial roles. She has worked in theatre and has written scripts as well. Since 2004, she has performed her solo play in English and Hindi, titled, Lal Ded, based on life of medieval Kashmiri mystic Lal Ded, all over India

Apart from acting, Vashisht is also actively involved in social work. She has worked with children in remand homes and with sex workers (she started a theatre troupe by enlisting 30 sex workers)

Vashisht has written and produced three short films, as well as a serial for television. She has worked as executive producer on the award winning film The Name of a River (A BFI (London)- NFDC (India)- Bangladesh film co-production).

In June 2001, Vashisht established Mandala, space for arts collaborations research and education. Its aim was to spearhead a new movement in the arts, to centre stage and individuate the performing arts in society (she considers that imperative, in the face of an electronic media onslaught) and to aid artistic collaborations.

Her first project under Mandala however took an unusual twist. A chance theatre workshop that she conducted with trafficked minors in a remand home in Mumbai led to four years of her full-time involvement with the cause of self- empowerment and rehabilitation of trafficked minors.
